Here's an idea, make the show so awesome and well-promoted that you can't help but NOT go.
Rather than making the show into a charity case for the music scene.
The Music Scene will not be "saved" or killed by any one show.

this is so stupid. whatever happened to just putting on a show and promoting it well and having great bands play?
i'm embarrassed to have my band (ewtb) on something that is being promoted as this, because we do NOT think the 'windsor scene' is dead or dying nor did we know the show was going to be promoted as a 'do or die' situation for local music.
the last dozen shows i've atteneded or played with ewtb or poughboy have had amazing turnouts and great bands of all different styles. what more do you want?
promoting a show as a 'save our scene' event is the biggest turn off ever.

who are 'THEY'? what are you talking about? ugh.
to check ewtb out playing with "one of the same 3 or 4 windsor bands and then a band from out of town at the same level as us," come out to the coach on friday, it's us, lodown and guelph's ghost of calico.
AND THEN check out the FAM Garden Party on Saturday at the DH w/ Orphan Choir and Ron Leary and MicLordz.
Both events will be awesome, well attended and no scenes will be saved or killed at either show.

Hey guys So here's the scoop for the show on the 8th of August. I understand it's being billed as the 'Save Windsor's Scene' show, which is kinda extreme. That being said, here's the rundown. Apparently promoters view Windsor as a 'dead scene,' and anyone in the music scene in Windsor won't really deny that. They are afraid of sending bands to Windsor because show attendance rates are low and bands RARELY make adequate compensation for the trek to Windsor to play. Where that leaves us now is here. The Flatliner/Living With Lions show is do or die. If it tanks (i.e., low attendance rates), promoters will see that as proof that the Windsor scene is failing and begin to skip over Windsor. If it succeeds and a lot of people make it out, then Windsor will put it's name back on the map as a place for bands to come to. In conclusion, this show is a big show for the area. If you enjoy going to shows, please buy a ticket. If you like going to bars that don't play Rihanna's 'Please Don't Stop The Music' 100 times a night, please buy a ticket. If you just want a night with the guys where you can wear a t-shirt and shorts and just put back some pitchers or beer without worrying about popping your collar or showing off your new haircut (JAGERBOMBS), buy a ticket. Support this scene. Support your city. Music Saves. <3 Mike dave thats not 100% the case, its the fact that Windsor has been bringing larger known bands here and promoters have been noticing a lack of turnout for these bands... not ppl in Windsor, but larger promoters are viewing Windsor as a dieing scene, this is just fact whether you want to admit it or not that is the way they are viewing it. This is just basically letting ppl know that there are going to be big names there that night which will basically say hey Windsor we'd like to bring more, maybe bigger and better well known bands here to play or no Windsor the turn out sucked, keep playing to each other for the next 20 or 30 years when we decide to give you another chance. IF they decide to give us another chance. I don't see how you can get angry at that. Just a questions for you, would you rather stay playing with the same 3 or 4 Windsor bands maybe every now and then a band from out of town on the same level as you for the rest of your musical career, or would you like to broaden your horizons, maybe get a few personal contacts and real networking not just myspace to help further yourselves to beable to get your music to more listeners. Because at this rate unless you get lucky enough to get offered a bigger show in London or Toronto thats not going to happen. And chances of you getting offerered something like that without getting well known in your hometown and someone from out of town taking a real notice to you, thats not going to happen. So if you can answer that question and honestly say you don't want to see bigger bands come to Windsor, that you wouldn't want to play with well known bands from around north america, then we'll stop advertising it like this, but if you can't honestly say that, then we'll continue. i'm sure you mean well enough mike, but for christ's sake, can you please stop posting? honestly, the shit you're talking is so mindblowingly dumb that it literally hurts to read it and if you actually knew about half the shit you're talking about then i doubt you would even waste your energy typing it out
