anybody who gets legitimately angry at anything on this board or the internet in general that isn't a personal attack has a problem.

what i take issue with is the way some people seem to want to make shows and local music businesslike or professional. thats not what underground music is, and never should be. ticketmaster is not independent music, and i think we should all do our best to distance our music and our "scene" from that. art (music, visual, anything) is something so wonderful and so co-optible by businesses and the mainstream, by people who dont give a fuck about the music or the people playing it or enjoying it, or about the community that revolves around it. I think that if anything, we should strive to maintain independent integrity as much as possible and support DIY before large businesses. this is not just about some dudes getting tickets made by ticketmaster, its about alot of things, some of which probably dont apply at all... its about people, history, integrity, ethics, community, independence, friendship, concience, and a whole lot more.
that said, ill probably check this show out. i DO have to commend everyone involved for putting on shows, which is always good regardless of details.

i am also of the opinion that clear channel is a shitty fucking corporation that is taking an art form so important to some people and bastardizing it.
that being said, like a lot of other big companies that do a lot of really shitty things, they offer services that are appealing and useful for many people who will use it occasionally, regardless of the corporation's business practices or ethics.
i try my best not to give business to clear channel/ticketmaster but sometimes i would rather not run the risk of a show selling out so i will buy a ticket and of course, most medium to high budget concerts are clear channel events.
but i do agree that it is not necessary to get ticketmaster involved in any way with local shows

Don't knock clear channel. They have brought us quality acts such as Default and Altar Bridge.

to Mike: Tongiht I'm gonna fuck ya real good asshole haha
to Lori: I just don't even know what to say to ya...
to all: this is really just about a kid getting tickets made. it's none of ANYONE's business. I notice generally all the comments and jumping on someone for doing some to "violate DIY ethic" is by kids who do fuck all to help or keep the "scene" and DIY going. Talking on the internet doesn't help the underground music movement. The internet itself that you are on supports nearly everything you're against. Please don't be hypocrites. If you want DIY get off the net. Make flyers by hand. Call bands by phone. Travel to cities and find venues by foot.
Going to shows supports this thing you cherish and that rarely happens, regardless of excuses.

neither kyle nor i go to shows or run an all ages venue... Sean NEVER goes to shows, i haven't seen him at almost every show i've been to for the past 3 months. Lori doesnt bring her young kid and few month old baby to potlucks and shows ever. In addition, i dont see how the internet supports corporations anymore than phone services or travelling to other cities by car. if anything, the internet (while being provided by a corporation) is a great networking tool for people interested in doing independent things. the internet has done as much for grassroots movements and independent art as it has for business interests...
this is just becoming a stupid argument and some people are evidently missing the point of everything anyone is trying to say. good luck with this show, i hope the tickets work out for yall. <3

see you made it a personal attack, so perhaps there's a perception problem here. true you used to run a venue. we did too, two of them. it wasn't personal.
but I'm sure you guys are right and all else are wrong. i have to get back to my job now. the blood-sucking corporation I work for.
